The multiplayer, which bears the update’s name, is a 5v1 hide-and-seek mode. One player takes on the role of Moran Yu while the others play as Mimics hiding in plain sight, disguised as everyday household objects.
In order to win, the player in the role of Yu must track down and destroy all five Mimics before time runs out.
The Typhoon Hunter multiplayer mode will release on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on December 11. Players can expect a VR version for both PC and PlayStation VR early next year.
Speaking of VR, while Typhoon Hunter VR won’t be available just yet, players can look forward to TranStar VR, a single player escape-room campaign. Available for both PC and PlayStation VR at the same time as Typhoon Hunter Multiplayer, TranStar VR casts players in the role of a TranStar employee on Talos I just days before the events in Prey. In order to escape, they’ll need to solve puzzles and complete various objectives.
Prey: Typhoon Hunter is available for free as part of the Prey: Digital Deluxe and Prey: Mooncrash packs. The Digital Deluxe can be purchased for $39.99 by those who haven’t bought the game yet. Or, if you already own the base Prey game, pick up Mooncrash for $19.99.
