Some of them awe you with their beauty and music, others are showpieces so people know you defeated a rare challenge, and then there are those made to make you smile (Fat Chocobo, for instance). And this ranking will take you through those great mounts that are pretty rare, or just tough to get. Can you collect them all? Well I’ll tell you now, when I get started with mounts, I treat them like Pokémon.
15. Gwiber of Light
How Rare: Owned by 4% of active players Patch Released: 5.3 While this is rare as of this writing, I’d say as more patches come out and characters can level higher, this will become easier to get. The Gwiber of Light is a light bathed draconic entity. With magnificent armor, golden eyes, and light pouring from his very flesh, this mount comes with vocal music from the Seat of Sacrifice. How to get: Win this as a drop in The Seat of Sacrifice Level 80 Extreme.
14. Construct VI-S
How Rare: Owned by 4.3% of active players Patch Released: 5.4 The construct is a golem that has been painted red. The red paint is supposed to make it go faster. No one knows what the S stands for. But you can look cool as you run around Eorzea in the hood of this large metal machine. Unfortunately, this piece does not have its own soundtrack. Instead it reverts to the standard mount music. But this doesn’t diminish how awesome it is to run around inside a large golem, reminiscent of the gate guard in classic hit Labyrinth. How to get: Gather Faux Leaves at Faux Hollows. Faux Hollows is a mini game you can play once a week after completion of the current Unreal Trial. 600 Faux Leaves will buy you the Construct VI – S.
13. Gabriel Mark III
How Rare: Owned by 6.9% of active players Patch Released: 5.45 Stand on top of this winged metal beast in its glory of gold and electric blue, and you’ll see why it’s so great. Looking a little like a plane with legs, this mount comes with the Bozja theme, changes shape when it flies, and looks even better at night when it glows. How to get: A rare drop in the 24-player duty Delubrum Regine (can be found in treasure chests). This is part of the Bozja questline.
12. Eden
How Rare: Owned by 5.9 % of active players Patch Released: 5.4 This mount is basically a giant Eden, cape and all. Whether you want it ultimately depends on how cool you look when you ride this thing. An Au’Ra will hold onto the bottom of it and stand proud, awesome! Lalafells hold higher up the bottom tail and look like they’re clinging on for dear life… It also comes with the ability to shoot a laser into the air. Of course, coming from Eden, she comes with Eden’s music too. How to get: Eden’s promise: Eternity. Savage Raid. This is a rare drop.

How Rare: Owned by 0.9% of active players Patch Released: 5.0 The Triceratops is a hunt mount. And yep, it’s a dinosaur. Possible one of the most popular dinosaurs of your childhood. Who wouldn’t want this one? With less than 1% of Eorzea’s population having managed to tame this beast, she’s truly a rare sight. How to get: Get yourself a dinosaur by killing 2000 A Rank Elite Marks and 1000 S Rank Elite Marks in Norvrandt.
9. Juedi
How Rare: Owned by 4.3% of active players Patch Released: 5.4 Juedi translates to “ludicrously swift steed that runs so fast its feet no longer touch the ground”. Probably. 3. Gloria-class Airship
How Rare: Owned by 2.9% of active players Patch Released: 3.2 Yep, a single occupancy airship mount. 2. Pteranodon
How Rare: Owned by 0.5% of active players Patch Released: 5.21 I know we got excited by the thought of riding a triceratops… but how about riding a pterodactyl? That is what mounts are all about! This mount is for all of us hard working crafter/gatherers – and he is beautiful! How to get: Earn 500,000 points towards your skyward score (The Firmament).
1. Black Pegasus
How Rare: Owned by 12% of active players Patch Released: 3.4 This beautiful black Pegasus with rich red wings and mane can only be found in the Palace of the Dead. Find him in this palace and set him free, and then he’ll always be there to give you a ride if you call for him. Downside? Well, like so many mounts it has the standard music. Although we really feel it should have PoTD music… Maybe he got sick of hearing it since he was trapped in there for so long. How to get: Found in PotD on higher levels, inside gold rimmed sacks. Rare drop.
